The Climate Crisis is Also a Health Crisis
Overconsumption of natural resources, the climate crisis, and the collapse of biodiversity are among the greatest health threats of our time. Protecting the environment means safeguarding human wellbeing and the health of future generations.
Climate Doctors is a network of physicians, dentists, and veterinarians operating under Physician for Social Responsibility – Finland (PSR). Healthcare itself also consumes natural resources and places a burden on the environment. Our goal is to integrate ecological sustainability into everyday healthcare practices and accelerate the wider societal transition towards a more sustainable way of life.
A doctor’s word carries weight. We have a unique opportunity and responsibility to stand up for health and the vital conditions for life.
How Do We Make an Impact?
We participate in public debate, influence decision-making, and raise awareness of the links between environmental issues and human health.
Our activities include:
- Training and lectures: We increase healthcare professionals’ understanding of planetary health and related topics.
- Workshops and materials: We provide practical tools for promoting sustainable lifestyles and improving sustainability in healthcare.
- Advocacy work: We bring the voice of healthcare professionals into decision-making processes at the municipal, regional, and national levels.
